Why We Run, February, 2021: “I Knew That Something Needed to Be Done but How to Do It?”

As the general elections take place on 14th January 2021, 25 women from WGEF’s Leadership Development Initiative are running for office!

Aber, 34, is a senior woman teacher at Olwiyo primary school in Nwoya District. Her major role is to mentor and support young girls. Here is her story of courage…

WGEF came at a time she needed a hand to hold her from collapsing. “I had a timber business in Democratic Republic of Congo, when I lost all I had to the soldiers.”

Before attending WGEF’s business skills training, I was not doing any business but was depending on my husband for everything. I would endure all harsh words from my husband in order to survive.

At Women’s Global Empowerment Fund, we didn’t sit back amidst this fear. We went forward. We stretched out to help ourselves and help the community.

Providing Essential Services in the Face of COVID-19
